Is Creativity Killing
Your Conversion Rates?

A beautiful page can still make the customer wait, work, and leave.

The test: Does the creative help the customer decide?

Creativity Needs a Job

  • Help the visitor recognize the problem.
  • Make the value easier to understand.
  • Place proof where doubt appears.
  • Make the next action clear.

Beautiful is not enough.

The Page Gets Buried One Layer at a Time

  • A larger image.
  • Another font.
  • One more animation.
  • A slider, popup, tracker, and widget.

No single request looks fatal. The combined system is.

A Photograph Is Also Payload

  • Size it for the space.
  • Compress it for delivery.
  • Use an efficient format.
  • Serve the right dimensions to each screen.

More bytes do not create more persuasion.

Creative Excess Delays Both Arrivals

  • Heavy assets delay the usable page.
  • Competing messages delay understanding.
  • Motion can steal attention from proof.
  • Choices can hide the next action.

What Does This Help the Customer Do?

  • Recognize?
  • Understand?
  • Believe?
  • Act?

If the team cannot name the job, the customer should not pay the cost.

Give Creativity a Budget

  • Page weight.
  • Image delivery.
  • Scripts and fonts.
  • Time to a usable mobile experience.
  • Attention before the primary action.

Preference Is Not Performance

  • Measure usable arrival.
  • Test message comprehension.
  • Track the first useful action.
  • Follow qualified leads to economic value.

Opinions create hypotheses. Results settle them.

No Unpriced Creative Cost

A feature that spends performance or attention must identify the customer benefit it expects to create.

If it cannot, remove it—or test it before making every visitor pay.

Make the Work Serve the Opportunity

  • Protect the one-second target.
  • Protect cognitive arrival.
  • Protect the next action.
  • Use creativity to make the decision easier.

The best creative work helps the customer move.
